DR Jimson Olufuye presently is the President of the Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN). ITAN, as a body, is Nigeria’s representative at the World Information Technology and Services Association (WITSA), a global IT body which held its congress in Amsterdam, The Netherlands last month.

Concerns are beginning to be raised about the delays in appointment of persons to various critical positions in government. For a nation of over 140 million Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora, it cannot be that difficult to identify deserving Nigerians to be appointed to fill these vacancies.

There appears to be growing concern about internet safety even as the prevalence of social networking web sites, online communities, and internet-enabled processes is great news for individual, corporate, and government users. The 2010 West African Information and Communications Technology Congress (WAFICT) ended last week with experts in the industry calling for full deployment of resources in the sub-region to fast-track economic growth and to make the vision 20 2020 dream a reality.
