WITH the clearing of 47 governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State for the 2010 governorship election, the acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chief Chris Uba has begun what has been described as the final sensitization of members of the party in readiness for the election.

PENULTIMATE week Rivers State governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi held the maiden edition of his monthly media briefing in Government House, Port Harcourt. Amaechi, always passionate about developing the State, spoke extensively on the numerous projects and programmes of his administration and his efforts at rebuilding the State. Excerpts:

IT is unlikely that the nation will stop talking of the April 2007 general elections in a hurry; if anything, the elections and its fallouts, some of which are still unravelling will continue to feature in discourses on the polity for some time to come.

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the first class economist and the immediate past Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, recently made public his membership of the People Democratic Party ( PDP), the largest political rally in Africa, apologies to Audu Ogbeh, that party’s former chairman. He also joined the long list of aspirants seeking to contest for the February 5, 2010 gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

IN many respects, Anambra is a state of pace-setters, and from another perspective, a polyglot of everything that is desirable in the Nigerian, and on the flipside, the undesirable.
