There was absolutely no spur to comment on the raging controversy of child marriage during the month of Ramadan basically because other issues relevant to the holy month and fasting remained inexhaustible. While preparing for the Eid yesterday, I recalled a number of people had sought my opinion and that of Islam on the issue, so, it became one of the issues staring at me on my table.
Between Zakaatul-Fitr and Zakaat
Some Muslims confused their annual Zakah with Zakatul-Fitr while some who understand the difference still observe the two in the month of Ramadan merely to attract more reward in the month of Ramadan. The latter though is acceptable but must not take the place of Zakaatul-Fitr. Zakat is the fouth pillar of Islam, the calculation of your 2.5% dues on your assets annually which is committed to charity.
Illness and concension for breaking fast
A minor headache for example with no other conditions may not in many instances constitute a situation where a person can use the flexibility of the injunction of illness to skip Ramadan fast. Scholars agree that sickness that doesn’t cause any hardship cannot be used as an excuse for not fasting.
