INDICATIONS have emerged that striking members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) in the nation’s universities, may suspend their ongoing industrial action tomorrow to bring normalcy to the nation’s universities that have been shut down for over three months.

Private Schools abound in Nigeria and their owners are largely seen as uncompromising when it comes to collection of school fees. Infact, as from the second week of a new term, children who are yet to pay their fees could be driven home in order to force their defaulting parents to pay irrespective of whether they have the means of paying or not.

A few days ago, leaders of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) in the nation’s schools and colleges met at the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, to examine the state of education in the country especially in the school and colleges as well as welfare of members. For NASU leaders, primary and post primary schools are the most neglected both in infrastructure and welfare of staff.
