THOUSANDS of residents in Ajegunle area of Ikorodu, Lagos State are still battling with flood following torrential rainfalls in the South Western part of the country. Worst hit are those living in Akute, the boundary between Ogun and Lagos states who are presently counting their loses after being sacked from their homes by the rampaging flood. But the most pathetic are pupils in the area whose schools have been taken over by the flood, forcing them to stay at home.

IT was a case of everyday for the thief, then comes a day of reckoning. There are many who specialise in vandalising Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, transformers and stealing cables there. Their criminal exploits in this regard have over time afforded them the opportunity of becoming instant millionaires.

The Executive Secretary of State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency, SERERA, Kano, Abubakar Jibril has disclosed that 14 local government councils in the state were affected by flood this year.

ON Sunday October 23, residents of Ajegunle along Ikorodu Road woke up to be confronted by a serious flood arising from the overflow of the Odo-Ogun river. The surge especially affected the major tarred road leading to Ikorodu and its environs.

LAST Tuesday Vanguard Metro, VM, ran the story of a 95-year-old man who was killed by some members of the Ikpe Ikot Nkon community of Akwa Ibom State for being a wizard. The story also made a passing reference to the ordeal of some children either suspected of being members of witchcraft cult or afflicted by ailments associated with witches.
