There has been a whole lot of silence on sexuality, and if they are even going to talk about it, they will use acronyms, euphemisms, suggestive words and phrases. When people have been raised in that kind of environment, it becomes difficult for them because they have not acquired the skills, and, more importantly, the open mindedness to discuss broadly on the issues of sexuality.

Some three, four years ago, Mr Nick Oparandudu, a banker-turned-politician, was not only an ally of the now embattled Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo but also a confidant and trusted member of the governor’s cabinet where he served as a commissioner and later as chief economic adviser on revenue generation. While their sweet political romance lasted Oparandudu was a credible voice of the administration, articulating its economic direction and development objectives. To underline their closeness, when the governor who was elected into office on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, decided to seek greener political pastures by joining the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oparandudu and the rest of his loyalists went with him.

Chidi Odinkalu needs no introduction to those familiar with Nigerian legal terrain. A professor of Law, he   served as Chairman,  Governing Council of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission. Even as he has worked in government, Odinkalu doesn’t shy away from telling those in power how to manage the people they represent when the need arises. His activism has taken him to different places,   all in his efforts to see a better world. 

Dr.  Kalu Mosto Onuoha  was formerly Petroleum Technology Development Fund Professor of Geology, at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). At 70, he is now Emeritus.Onuoha—who  has been president of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences (NAS), since January, 2017—explicated current issues, and highlighted his priorities, during a late-night interview with  J.K. Obatala,  at Warri’s Casa De Pedro Hotel. An early achievement, was the attainment of a long-sought certificate of occupancy for NAS—paving the way for its eventual relocation, from Lagos to Abuja.
