AAUA graduates 6,341, 26 bag 1st Class

ADEKUNLE Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, graduated 6, 341 at its 5th Convocation ceremony held onThursday 6th and Friday 7th, November, 2014. Of this number, 26 received first class degrees. The Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko, revealed this during a Press conference kick-starting the convocation ceremony.

Education for All: E-learning, way to go

“If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” This famous quote by Derek Curtis Bok, an American lawyer, educator and former president of Harvard University, holds so true especially for Nigeria. An ignorant man is a time bomb waiting to explode. Bok is simply saying that the disadvantages of not having an education far outweigh the cost of getting a good education.

ZODML laments 20% import duty on books, donates four libraries

Chief Executive Officer of ZODML, Mrs. Ifeoma Esiri, has lamented reports about a 20 per cent import duty the Federal Government placed on imported books, saying that literacy level in Nigeria is extremely low and the absence of functional school libraries has a lot to do with the situation. She averred, “An imposition of import duty of whatever amount can only turn a very bad situation into a monumental catastrophe.”

Pitan laments rot in educational sector

FORMER Commissioner for Education and governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Dr Leke Pitan has said that the rot in the educational sector in the country can only be erased with a holistic approach to human capital development oriented programme for the administrative and teaching personnel of primary and secondary schools in the country.

Lagos builds e-based learning outfit

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, has said that the state government is building an ultra modern e-based learning outfit that will incorporate e-instructional television, e-classroom and e-drama, among others, which would be accessible to all learners and teachers in the state in particular and the world in general.
