EIGHT days after commencement, Lagos state commercial bus owners and drivers have snubbed the re-certification exercise introduced by the government as the second phase of the Traffic Law signed by Governor Babatunde Fashola on August 2, 2012.

THE Isoko North Local Government Transition Committee, Delta State, recently put smiles on the faces of its people by empowering over 744 traders and artisans drawn from the 13 wards that made up the council area from its proceeds of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE_P. The empowerment ceremony, which is part of government effort to eradicate poverty in the council area, was attended by all stakeholders and opinion leaders in the area, including the Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay.

Oyewole Street in Ilupeju area of Lagos was a beehive of activity recently, as men, women, youths and children alike, thronged Divine Appointment Ministry located on number 17, to have their own fair share of free medical treatment on offer to the public. The crowd which cut across different religions and ethic s, could not contain the over 3000 sitting capacity in the ministry’s auditorium, as many of them waited outside patiently for their turn.

THOSE who witnessed the tragedy at the Holy Ghost Ministry Adoration ground at Uke in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State seem to have found their voices at last and are now narrating their harrowing experience. It would be recalled that 25 persons lost their lives following a stampede that took place when the worshippers were going home after the service.

Violators of Parks and Garden Regulations have been warned by the Lagos State Government to desist forthwith as defaulters would henceforth be fined or made to serve jail term. Managing Director, Lagos State Parks and Garden Agency, Mrs Titi Anibaba, who gave the warning in her Alausa office at a media briefing, enumerated that such offences that are punishable by the law include neglect, failure and refusal to landscape and beautify the perimeter fence of residents’ properties.
