FEDERAL government has been urged to adopt more effective treatment programmes to preserve women’s lives and stop preventable deaths in the country. Country Director, Population Council Dr Andrew Karlyn said eclampsia, a major cause of maternal death in Nigeria, often leads to seizures, coma and death in pregnant women and also the deaths of babies during or after childbirth.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris wants Nigerians to improve their health-seeking habits. He says people should endeavour to report to health institutions before their diseases have advanced.
