TEN days after 153 passengers aboard Dana Flight 099 from Abuja perished along with an indeterminate number of people on the ground when the aircraft crashed into residential buildings in Iju, a suburb of Lagos, on the afternoon of Sunday June 3, 2012, the release of the remains of the victims to their relations by authorities of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, remains a contentious issue.

RESPITE has finally come to some residents of Iju-Ishaja, a densely populated neighbourhood in the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos, where the ill-fated Dana airplane crashed penultimate. About 35 households whose buildings were badly damaged by the crash, were last Wednesday, given temporary reprieve by the Lagos State Government which relocated them to the Ipaja Relief Camp outside Ikorodu.

FOR the family of Sam Shaibu Negedu, their recent journey to Lagos was one they could not have wished for if they had their way. Reason: It was primarily to search for their loved one, Mr. Shauibu Sam, who left Abuja full of life, but had this promising life cut short in the recent Dana air disaster.
