For Bayelsa-born gospel music star Asu Ekiye, his counterpart on the gospel music scene, Sammie Okposo is not fit to lead an association of gospel artistes simply because he does not have the spiritual pedigree.

’ At some point, I thought that I was going to miss him. So, I was being real. I felt deeply emotionally attached to him like I’m very passionate about my singing, my kind of music and I’m not in anyway wanting to change it.

I’m too afraid to keep my eyes off the goal, and that is to be the best in contention, irrespective of gender. I’m never in competition with anyone. The market is big enough for us all. I’m on a never-ending quest to perfect my craft and be the best I can be. That’s a never ending journey and a lot of pressure on its own.
