Obasanjo thinks he is the best thing that has happened to this country and he has taken Nigerians up on a number of occasions. He has tried to perpetuate his hold on the people. Vide the third term. He could not win.
Zoning or no zoning
They are not about to give up but to see that they win again. If they win, then, their fortunes will turn..
Of course, those who oppose them (no-zoning) are shouting at the top of their voice and the slogan has been “democracyâ€, whatever that means now. Of course, they conveniently forget “quotaâ€, Federal Character and all other things. They mean to play their game to the hilt.
Honours: Let’s look at them again
Unlike the commercialists or the traders or the manufacturers they plied their intangible commodities as best as they possibly could.
Among the commercialists Femi Otedola, Felix Ibru, tower above many. And among those who gave Nigeria the good name in technology was Prof. Bart O. Nnaji Professor Tam David-West (did he receive his award?) And there was Professor Mosobalaje Olaloye Oyawoye. Of course, (Baba Kekere) Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande was among the beacons. He shone in Journalism and in politics.
A nation, a people
I am yielding this space today to my son, Boye, who has some observations concerning this country. You see, Boye has been out of this country for about 13 years.
The journalists will soon return home
I hope and pray that by the time the time of this publication, the four journalists abducted by kidnapers would have been released. On Sunday, the Chairma of the Council of Lagos State NUJ, Mr. Wahab Oba and Secretary of Zone D, Adolphus Okonkwo lost their freedom.

A beautiful Lagos is not a dream. What the administrators only need to do is to move around without their escorts and mingle with the people and before you know it, the problem will be solved. Don’t forget, before you, there were some administrators. Many more will come and go after you. The major difference is that those who win the hearts of the people will be remembered as heroes… We don’t even need to talk about those who do otherwise!
A great day for Adetona
They categorically did not witness any rancour except the one manufactured in the imagination of the reporter.
Akingrogun Osoba, a veritable reporter, was askance. He did not witness anything of such. Two natural rulers spent about six hours at the reception and did not remember any misbehavior. Rather there was talk of the many courses of food there were available. An Eastern Igwe was sure there were five or six – made up of snacks thrown in.
The NNPC Insurance question
The question of the insurance of NNPC assets is a recurring problem. It will have to be tackled once and for all.
Of course, the President of the Republic, Goodluck Jonathan, has given directive for the probing of the operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Oil exploration – to what purpose?
We are outrightly stealing our assets and we are very brazen about it. (See companion article).
Oil has made us lazy and we can do anything for oil money. No-one is paying attention to agriculture and we are suffering for its neglect. We must pay attention to it, most particularly those in Western Nigeria. We had a mini-war pepper recently but it would be a big one next time around.
Jonathan can do pretty little
And Jonathan does not have the time in the whole world for the 7-point agenda. But he can at least make an impression on energy and roads. Otherwise, he would not have done anything.
