AFTER the local government election which took place in Lagos last weekend, I was amused that analysts on some television stations were complaining about voter apathy. It was already known that the ruling All Progressives Congress , APC, would “sweep” the polls, why bother?

There should have been the need to impose a sanction on those elements that virtually succeeded in putting the party on the path of perdition, if only as a deterrence against future occurrence

The question is asked, ‘when exactly can the President be said to be ‘incapable’ of discharging the functions of his office? Is it when a ‘sick’ –or maybe even healthy- President, for whatever reason, feels himself incapable of discharging the functions of his office; or is it when a cynical, or maybe even genuinely critical public, believes, rightly or wrongly, that the President is ‘incapable of discharging the functions of his office?

The current local government system belongs to everybody and to nobody. There is a big difference between “my own” and “our own”

THIS week’s column should be seen as one piece with last week’s talking point entitled, ‘Some thoughts for the Nigerian child’. In other words, today’s discussion is, for me, a continuation of last week’s discourse which aimed to take a stand for the younger elements of our society, especially school-age children and the trained youth without much prospect in a Nigeria that is programmed against them.
