ABUJA -THE Revenue mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) on Friday warned that the execution of the joint venture cash calls (JVCC) initiated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was having an adverse effect on the nation’s economy.

TRADE Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), says aside the obvious shortcomings and loopholes identified by interest groups on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), the body believes the bill seeks to address the injustices and inequities in the Niger Delta by providing for a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility, (CSR), package for the oil_producing communities by companies operating in the region.

THE Petroleum Technology Development Fund has said it is collaborating with the Nigerian Institute of Welding to end the dominance by foreign welders and fabricators in the construction jobs in the nation’s oil and gas sector by the year 2010.

Arik Air has resumed services between Abuja and Maiduguri, capital of Borno State. The airline suspended its services to Maiduguri at the end of July following the outbreak of militant activity across the region. The resumption of flights means that Arik Air connects Maiduguri and the Federal Capital six days per week.

German carrier, Lufthansa Airlines, has relocated its Lagos office to Churchgate Tower on Victoria Island, to meet the need of its customers.
The relocation, which was effected on July 30, 2009, brings to an end the airline’s almost 50 years sojourn on Broad Street — the once burgeoning financial street of Lagos.
