The International Forum for Peace and Diplomacy (IFPD) has officially entered into a landmark humanitarian development partnership with Agro Sales Group and the World Food Programme (WFP) aimed at addressing food insecurity, strengthening agricultural productivity, and promoting sustainable livelihoods across vulnerable communities in Nigeria.
The partnership represents a strategic commitment to advancing food security through large-scale agricultural development, farmer empowerment, climate-smart farming practices, and community resilience initiatives. The collaboration is expected to support efforts to increase food production, create employment opportunities, and improve access to agricultural resources for smallholder farmers and rural communities.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director General of IFPD, Ambassador Adeniran Michael Timothy, described the agreement as a significant step towards tackling one of Africa’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
“Food security is fundamental to peace, stability, and sustainable development. Through this partnership, we are bringing together humanitarian action, private-sector expertise, and international development support to create lasting solutions that empower communities and strengthen food systems.”
Nigeria continues to face significant food security challenges driven by climate shocks, economic pressures, and insecurity affecting agricultural production. The World Food Programme estimates that millions of Nigerians are currently experiencing acute food insecurity, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated action and long-term investment in agriculture and community resilience. Under the partnership framework, IFPD, Agro Sales Group, and WFP will collaborate on initiatives including:
* Development of sustainable agricultural projects and commercial farming schemes.
* Capacity building and training for farmers and youth agripreneurs.
* Promotion of climate-smart and innovative farming technologies.
* Support for food production value chains and market access.
* Community-based livelihood and resilience programs.
* Strengthening humanitarian interventions aimed at reducing hunger and poverty.
Agro Sales Group reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging modern agricultural technologies, expertise, and investment to improve food production and contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural transformation agenda.
The partnership further aligns with national and global efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 1 (No Poverty), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
As a leading peacebuilding, diplomacy, and humanitarian organization, IFPD remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships that promote sustainable development, economic empowerment, and social stability across Africa.
The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of a transformative journey toward a more food-secure, resilient, and prosperous future for communities across Nigeria.
