Your philanthropist gesture impacted education, healthcare delivery – Adeleke tells Alakija

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has disclosed that the philanthropist gesture of Apostle Modupe Alakija has impacted positively on education and healthcare delivery.

Recall that Alakija within her ten years reign as the Chancellor of Osun State University, built an access road for the University, built and handed over N34billion worth teaching hospital for the school.

Speaking during a visit to the Chancellor as part of activities to mark her valedictory service, Governor Adeleke, represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, said her legacy in the State is enduring.

A statement issued by UNIOSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, stated that Governor Adeleke who was on a thank you visit along with the university management thank God for giving the Chancellor the grace to not just complete her tenure but also impacted on humanity through her philanthropist gesture.

“Your support for the construction of the access road to the university, as well as the donation of the ultra-modern Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital. The hospital exclusively donated to the Osun State University is a living legacy and major support for medical education and high-level health care.

“The humanitarian gestures of Apostle Alakija and her family would continue to leave enduring legacies in the lives of many people”, he said.

Presenting report of the world-class medical research and training hospital, the institution Vice Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye assured her that the university management remained committed to sustaining the facility as one of the leading medical and research centres in Nigeria and beyond.

He noted that Apostle Alakija’s tenure had brought immense growth, visibility, and transformation to the university, adding that members of the university community wished her tenure could continue beyond its expiration.

Responding, Apostle Alakija while appreciating Osun State Government and the university management for the honour accorded her through the visit, she gives glory to God for giving her the opportunity to impact humanity and see through her tenure as Chancellor.

The philanthropist disclosed that despite receiving numerous requests for appointments from different organisations, she accepted the invitation from Osun State University after seeking divine direction through prayers. “I received the Divine guidance to build the hospital for the Osun State University”, she said.
