Philanthropist and community development advocate, Otunba Sheriff Olasheni Ajaga, has reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian services, youth empowerment and sustainable community development across Lagos State.
Ajaga, through his company, Global Stanza Nigeria Ltd, and his non-governmental organisation, Sheriff Olasheni Ajaga Foundation, SOAF, said he remains dedicated to improving the welfare of vulnerable and less-privileged persons in society.
According to him, the foundation was established to create meaningful opportunities for disadvantaged members of society and provide support for widows, elderly citizens, youths, artisans, traders and students.
He noted that the foundation has continued to implement programmes targeted at poverty alleviation, education support, youth empowerment and community welfare across several parts of Lagos.
Speaking on some of the foundation’s interventions, Ajaga said indigent students have benefitted from scholarship schemes, including the distribution of JAMB and UTME registration forms to candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
He added that the foundation has also introduced vocational and skill acquisition programmes aimed at equipping youths and women with practical and entrepreneurial skills for economic independence.
According to him, the vocational initiatives have empowered several beneficiaries with employable skills capable of improving their standard of living.
Ajaga further disclosed that the foundation provides monthly stipends and welfare support to elderly citizens, while widows regularly receive food items and household materials to cushion the effects of economic hardship.
He explained that SOAF also participated in the distribution of palliatives and relief materials to vulnerable residents during periods of economic challenges.
The philanthropist said artisans, traders and women in local communities have equally benefitted from empowerment schemes through financial support, training and business development initiatives.
Ajaga, an alumnus of Lagos State University, LASU, also received professional business training at the London Business School, where he obtained a Diploma in Business Administration.
He hails from the Otun Ajaga Royal Family of Lagos Island Division, a family reputed for leadership and community service.
