An investor and Managing Director of Skyewise Group, Elvis Abuyere, has commended Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo for his anti-cultism campaign, saying it has improved the business climate and encouraged investment in the state.
Abuyere spoke in Benin City ahead of the official launch of his company, noting that the governor’s efforts to curb cult-related activities have enhanced security and made the environment more attractive to investors.
“Before now, cultism was said to be high, but it has reduced to the barest minimum. That means it is now safer for us to do business here,” he said.
He dismissed negative perceptions about Edo State, insisting that his experience on ground shows that Benin City is ready to attract and sustain investments.
According to him, Skyewise Group operates across multiple sectors, including investment, credit management, automobile services, logistics, youth empowerment, and commercial real estate.
Abuyere also emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship, describing it as the future of Africa, with Nigeria playing a leading role.
Through the Skyewise Foundation, he said the company has trained and empowered youths over the past six years, with many beneficiaries establishing their own businesses.
“We have been supporting businesses through loans and empowerment initiatives. Our goal is to help young people build something meaningful and sustainable,” he added.
He noted that despite negative stereotypes about Nigerian youths, targeted empowerment programmes can unlock their potential and drive economic growth.
Abuyere further disclosed that the company, which has been in operation for over a decade, is committed to expanding its footprint and contributing to economic development in Edo State.
