Following the inclusion of cattle bone pellets under China’s zero-tariff policy for African nations, the first consignment of the commodity from Nigeria weighing 747 tons has arrived at Dalian, China.
This was disclosed by the Director-General, Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China, Du Xiaohui, on his verified X handle.
The post reads: “China-Nigeria trade saw a new momentum: a batch of 747 tons of Nigerian cattle bone pellets recently arrived at Dalian China, a new beneficiary of the #ZeroTariffPolicy.”
It would be recalled that China had earlier announced that Nigerian cattle bone pellets, among other commodities, would enjoy duty-free access into the Chinese market under its zero-tariff policy covering 53 African countries.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, had disclosed this in a post on his verified X page, noting that the arrangement took effect from May 1, 2026.
According to the Ambassador, China also upgraded ‘green lanes’ for African agricultural and food imports, a move aimed at streamlining quarantine procedures and adopting risk-based management to speed up market access.
He added that the benefits were expected to extend to more Nigerian premium products, with potential to boost export revenues, create rural jobs, and strengthen the country’s agricultural value chain.
Dunhai described the development as a solid step forward for China-Nigeria trade cooperation and bilateral relations.
