Foundation awards scholarships, as college holds second convocation

A major milestone in Enugu State’s evolving healthcare and education was recorded at Akpuoga Nike, Enugu as Ezzy College of Health Science and Technology held its 2nd Convocation Ceremony, graduating numerous students across key vocational health professional programmes. .

The ceremony, which drew healthcare stakeholders, educators, and families, was not only a celebration of academic excellence but also a strategic contribution to the state’s fast-growing healthcare workforce. It further highlighted the expanding role of private institutions in supporting the ambitious health sector reforms championed by Peter Mbah.

At the heart of the event was a strong message of impact and inclusion, as the Ezzycares Foundation awarded scholarships to deserving students in vocational health-related programmes. The scholarship award was an initiative aimed at reducing financial barriers of a new generation of healthcare professionals, empowering them to have unlimited access to their dream profession while equipping them to serve both urban and rural communities.

Speaking during the ceremony, Gloria C. Bertram-Okoli, CEO of Ezzy Group International (Nigeria and United State), reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing accessible, efficient, and technology-driven healthcare. She emphasized that the college is not just graduating students, but producing solution-driven vocational health professionals who are ready to meet the realities of the fast transforming health system.

“Our mission goes beyond certificates,” she noted. “We are building a workforce that will power a healthier and stronger society.”

The convocation aligns closely with the broader healthcare transformation agenda in Enugu State, which focuses on expanding infrastructure, decentralizing care, and strengthening human capital. With the numerous primary healthcare centres being developed across wards, alongside high-level specialist facilities, the demand for trained personnel continues to rise.

Institutions like Ezzy College of Nursing Sciences and Ezzy College of Health Science and Technology, which are sister institutions within the Ezzy Group are playing critical roles in meeting this demand by producing skilled nurses, vocation health technicians, and other health professionals

Complementing this educational drive is the role of Ezzycares Multispecialist Hospital, which continues to serve as a modern referral hub within the state’s healthcare ecosystem. The integration of training and service delivery ensures that graduates are not only well-trained but also aligned with real-world healthcare needs.

The convocation spotlighted a deeper vision of Ezzy group, one that prioritizes education, opportunity, and sustainability.

Through its scholarship programme, the Ezzycares Foundation is directly investing in human capital development, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder talented individuals from contributing to the healthcare sector.

As Enugu State continues to chart a bold path in healthcare reform, the collaboration between government and private institutions is essential.

The graduation of these new health professionals is more than a ceremonial achievement. it is a strategic step towards building skilled, inclusive, and supportive healthcare system.

And these commitments justify the role of institutions like Ezzy College of Health Science and Technology, not just as educators, but  as key supporter of  the  ongoing healthcare revolution of the Enugu State, built on access, innovation, and people-centered care. It further indicate the scale of involvement in the transformative move towards reducing medical tourism while positioning the state as the hub for advanced medical care.
