The Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, Senator Omotayo Alasoadura, has commended stakeholders and party faithful in Ondo State and the entire South West geopolitical zone, for their overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu in the just concluded presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu was returned with overwhelming majority in the Saturday’s presidential primaries, positioning him to contest as the APC standard bearer in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed on Sunday on behalf of his group, Tinubu Independent Action Movement (TIAM), as its Chairman, Senator Alasoadura said the primaries was “peaceful and decisive” nationwide, while congratulating President Tinubu on his emergence.
The former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs described Tinubu’s victory at the Primaries as “expected, undeniable, unassailable and resounding”; saying, for him and his group, the TIAM, “this moment carries a weight that is deeply personal”.
“In December 2022, when the leadership of APC and many others were gallivanting and still calculating which way the political wind would blow, TIAM took a decisive position and took to the streets of Akure, marching from Fiwasaye Roundabout through to Ilesha Garage (a distance of about 10 kilometres), in a carnival of conviction that announced to the world that Ondo State believed in Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Those who marched then were not following a crowd; they were leading one. Yesterday’s primary results are the vindication of that courage”, he reminisced.
Senator Alasoadura extended his warmest commendation to the people of Ondo State and the entire South West for their orderly, enthusiastic, and decisive participation in yesterday’s exercise, adding that, the South West has once again demonstrated why it is the cradle of Nigerian progressivism and the political home of a President whose agenda is reshaping the nation.
Alasoadura, however, called on “every TIAM member, every APC faithful, and every supporter of the Renewed Hope Agenda across Ondo State, the South West, and Nigeria at large, to immediately begin a systematic door-to-door campaign, not next month, but this week, starting today”.
He added that the achievements of this administration should be further amplified, from the student loan scheme opening university doors that poverty had shut; to fiscal policies that have increased investors’ confidence; as well as infrastructure projects ongoing across the nation and many other reforms restructuring Nigeria’s economy for the 21st century; stressing that, a government willing to bear the political cost of long-overdue reforms deserves a full mandate to complete the work it started.
“The primary has produced a candidate. The people must now produce a President, and the best person for the job remains President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, Alasoadura added.
