Adamawa 2027: Haske takes early lead in APC governorship primary, polls 69%

Businessman and politician, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, has taken an early lead in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State, according to preliminary figures released by his campaign team.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Haske Media Group (HMG), Haske was said to have secured 555,427 votes, representing 68.66 per cent of the votes so far collated from 216 wards across the state.

According to the campaign, Ahmed Tijjani Galadima trailed with 146,068 votes, representing 18 per cent, while Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas polled 64,430 votes, or 7.96 per cent. Another contender, Aminu Iya Abbas, reportedly secured 45,562 votes, representing 5.61 per cent.

The group noted that results from 10 wards in Toungo Local Government Area were still being awaited at the time of filing the update.

“The emerging results highlight Haske’s consistent and widespread appeal across both urban and rural constituencies, reinforcing his position as the clear frontrunner in the primary election,” the statement said.

The campaign also cited ward-by-ward and local government results to support its claims of Haske’s dominance.

In Hong Local Government Area, Haske reportedly polled 15,185 votes, ahead of Galadima’s 12,025 and Namdas’ 7,547.

In Mayo-Belwa, he was said to have secured 8,709 votes in Mbilla Ward, compared to Galadima’s 220 and Namdas’ 50.

The statement further claimed that in Michika I Ward, Haske scored 6,200 votes, while Galadima polled 280 and Namdas recorded five votes.

Similar leads were reported in Jada, Yola South, Yola North and Demsa local government areas, with the campaign describing the trend as evidence of “a well-established grassroots structure and growing political momentum.”

HMG said the figures released were based on “verified and collated results” and pledged to provide further updates as more results become available.

The APC is yet to officially announce the final outcome of the primary.
