A former All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Daniel Onjeh, has visited the Children of Mary Orphanage Home in Otukpo as part of his ongoing consultations, where he received prayers and commendation for his longstanding support to the facility.
Onjeh, a former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, was received by the founder of the orphanage, Rosemary Oganyi, and the children, who expressed appreciation for his consistent assistance over the years.
During the visit, Oganyi recalled Onjeh’s earlier engagement with the orphanage ahead of the 2016 rerun election involving former Senate President, David Mark. She noted that despite losing the election, he fulfilled a promise he made to the home.
She said the vehicle he donated at the time remains a critical asset to the orphanage.
According to her, “the Volkswagen Sharan bus he donated remains the first and only vehicle ever given to the orphanage,” adding that it has been used daily for school runs and emergency hospital visits.
The founder also commended Onjeh for a fresh donation made during the visit, describing it as impactful.
She expressed appreciation for “the cash donation of one million naira made during the visit to support the children’s school fees,” noting that his support has extended beyond election periods through regular outreach, gifts, and welfare assistance.
In an emotional moment, Oganyi and the children offered prayers and blessings for the former Chairman, Governing Board of Projects Development Institute, Enugu, acknowledging his contributions to the home.
Onjeh thanked the management and children for the warm reception and prayers.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, stating that such interventions form part of his broader vision of service to society.
The visit, according to his campaign organisation, underscores his continued engagement with grassroots communities as political activities gradually intensify ahead of future elections.
