The National Youth Council of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to show greater leadership and restraint in his public comments regarding the party’s coalition efforts.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mallam Mohammed Rabiu, the council expressed concern over recent remarks made by Atiku during an interview on AriseTV.

The group emphasised the need for all leaders within the coalition to prioritise unity and work together to resolve internal challenges, particularly those affecting Adamawa State.

The Youth Council noted that unresolved issues, such as the harmonisation of congress lists, have caused dissatisfaction among some high-profile members.

It urged Atiku to take a fatherly role in addressing these concerns and to focus on fostering harmony within the coalition.

The council also appealed to other prominent figures, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi, to continue exercising restraint and avoid being drawn into public disagreements.

The statement stressed that the ADC remains committed to building a strong and united coalition capable of offering Nigerians a credible alternative in future elections.

The Youth Council reiterated its belief that unity, dialogue, and adherence to due process are essential for the progress of the party and the broader coalition.
