Former Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, Prince Fawaz Muhammad, has announced his intention to contest the Etsako West Constituency I seat in the Edo State House of Assembly under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing a desire to tackle pressing challenges in his constituency.

In a statement to journalists in Benin City, Prince Muhammad highlighted that his experience leading the Edo State Youth Parliament has given him practical insight into legislative processes, preparing him to contribute effectively if elected.

“Having presided over legislative proceedings at the youth parliament level, the business of lawmaking is not new to me. I understand the responsibility and am prepared to serve with competence and clarity,” he said.

He emphasized the need for purposeful and informed representation for the people of Etsako West Constituency I, noting that their voices have not always been fully heard.

“I am stepping forward to give my people a voice—one that is strong, consistent, and truly reflective of their needs and aspirations,” Prince Muhammad stated.

His legislative agenda will prioritize creating employment opportunities, enhancing security, and improving living standards. He also plans to advocate for youth-focused policies, including skills acquisition programmes and educational support.

“As a young leader, I understand the urgency of youth empowerment. I will champion policies that promote skills development, entrepreneurship, and access to education, including bursaries for students,” he added.

Prince Muhammad stressed that his aspiration is driven by a sense of duty rather than personal ambition.

“This is not about power or personal gain. It is about service. It is about giving back to the people and answering the call for responsible leadership,” he said.

He concluded by calling for a new generation of leaders committed to integrity, competence, and vision in governance.

“This is a moment for my generation to step forward—with character, with capacity, and with a genuine commitment to the people.”
