2027: Queen Tim-Opurum joins APC, to contest for NINN Federal Constituency seat

Prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, Queen Chinyere Tim-Opurum, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared her intention to contest for the Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba (NINN) Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

Her declaration, which took place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Dim-Na Nume Isu ward in Nwangele LGA, was attended by APC leaders, stakeholders, elected councillors, ward executives, and women groups who welcomed her with excitement and fanfare.

Speaking at the event, the newly elected Chairman of Nwangele APC, Hon. Pascal Iwuala, assured Queen Tim-Opurum of full inclusivity within the party and urged her to actively participate in its activities.

The Executive Chairman of Nwangele LGA, Hon. Chief Paul Duru, encouraged her to remain resilient, consistent, and loyal to the party, citing his own political journey as an example of patience and focus.

Queen Tim-Opurum, popularly known as Opuruiche Nwanyi, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the warm reception. She pledged to support the APC from the ward to the federal constituency level and align fully with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at both state and national levels.

She highlighted her track record of community service, including equipping farmers with modern tools, awarding scholarships to students, and providing seed capital to small business owners. She promised to do even more for the people if given the opportunity to represent them in the House of Representatives.

The event reached a high point when the Council of Nwangele Traditional Rulers, led by His Royal Highness Eze (Hon.) Uzomah Onunenyi (Ekiti II of Ekitiafor Abba), performed a traditional rite. They washed her legs, poured libations, and offered blessings for divine protection and success in her political aspiration.

Youths and women groups at the event chanted victory songs and promised to mobilize grassroots support for Queen Tim-Opurum, describing her as a credible candidate who will bring effective representation to the constituency.

Her entry into the race has sparked discussions about women’s active participation in politics, especially in the wake of the Reserved Seat Bill. Many observers believe she could be a strong contender to replace the current representative, Hon. Barr. Harrison Nwadike, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Queen Chinyere Tim-Opurum is widely regarded as a successful entrepreneur and dedicated philanthropist with a strong passion for community development.
