ABUJA — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has distributed digital learning devices to schools across the five local government areas of Kogi Central, in a move aimed at advancing a digital education revolution in the district.

The lawmaker, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said access to digital tools is now a necessity rather than a luxury, stressing that the initiative seeks to bridge the technology gap between rural and urban schools.

The intervention, according to a statement signed by her media aide, Sam Idoko, forms part of her broader agenda to promote tech-driven education and prepare students for global competitiveness.

The distribution targeted select primary and secondary schools and was carried out during a series of visits to Okene, Ajaokuta, Adavi, Okehi, and Ogori-Magongo local government areas. The events drew the participation of educators, traditional leaders, parents, and community stakeholders.

Speaking during the engagements, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised the importance of equipping young Nigerians with digital skills.

“Access to digital learning devices is no longer optional; it is essential. Our children must not be left behind in a world driven by technology and innovation,” she said.

“Education remains the strongest foundation for sustainable development. When we invest in our children’s knowledge and digital capacity, we are investing in the future prosperity of Kogi Central and Nigeria as a whole.”

Beneficiary institutions include LGEA Primary School, Ganaja; LGEA Standard College, Ganaja in Ajaokuta LGA; Adavi Local Government Science Secondary School, Nagazi-Eba in Adavi LGA; and LGEA Demonstration Nursery and Primary School, Eika Ohizenyi in Okehi LGA, among others.

Head teachers, parents, and students expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and transformative. School authorities noted that the devices would enhance teaching and learning, expand access to digital resources, and improve students’ readiness for a technology-driven world.

The colourful receptions that greeted the senator during the visits underscored community support for the initiative, which stakeholders say will strengthen educational outcomes and foster inclusive development across Kogi Central.
