Juliet O. Ogu – author and founder, Children That Learn Series.
Juliet O. Ogu, a Nigerian author and creator of the Children That Learn series, is leading a literacy-focused initiative aimed at improving reading culture among public primary school children across Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta State, and the wider Niger Delta region.
Through her books—including Elo in Lagos, Ayo and the Lost Pen, and Ebiere in Bayelsa—she creates relatable stories that reflect the everyday lives, culture, and environment of Nigerian children, helping them connect more meaningfully with reading.
Beyond children’s literature, she also writes fiction and poetry, enriching her storytelling with depth, cultural nuance, and emotional connection.
Through school visits, she leads reading sessions, storytelling activities, and book donations, creating engaging learning experiences that inspire children to read and learn.
“Children are more likely to enjoy reading when they see themselves in the stories,” she said.
The initiative continues to expand across both urban and underserved communities, with a focus on making reading more accessible, relatable, and engaging for Nigerian children.
She is currently seeking partnerships to expand the initiative and reach more schools across Nigeria.
