Eid-el-Fitr: Jiwa monarch urges unity, peace, national cohesion

As Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Chief of Jiwa Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Musa Idris, has called for strengthened unity, peaceful coexistence and deeper understanding among citizens.

In a goodwill message to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the monarch urged Nigerians to sustain the core values of Islam exemplified during the period, including patience, discipline, tolerance, charity and devotion to God.

He noted that these virtues are critical to promoting harmony and addressing the socio-economic and security challenges facing the country.

According to him, Eid-el-Fitr should go beyond celebration and serve as a time for reflection, reconciliation and renewed commitment to nation-building.

“Ramadan has taught us the importance of sacrifice, compassion and self-restraint. As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, we must continue to live by these principles and work collectively to build a society anchored on peace, justice and unity,” he said.

The traditional ruler also appealed to religious leaders, community heads and other stakeholders to intensify efforts toward promoting interfaith dialogue and mutual respect, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity remains a source of strength.

He further urged well-meaning Nigerians to extend love and support to the less privileged during the festive period, noting that acts of kindness and generosity would help ease hardship and foster a sense of belonging.

Addressing young people, the monarch cautioned against violence, criminality and divisive tendencies, encouraging them instead to engage in productive activities that contribute to community development and national growth.

While congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, Idris prayed for lasting peace, stability and prosperity in Jiwa Kingdom and the country at large.

He also called for continued prayers for national leaders, asking for divine wisdom and guidance in steering the nation toward progress.

“As we mark this joyous occasion, let us remain united, support one another and continue to pray for our dear country. Together, we can overcome our challenges and build a brighter future for generations to come,” he added.

The monarch wished all Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration and urged them to celebrate responsibly in line with Islamic teachings.
