Members of the AA Eagle Network have declared their support for the emergence of the next governor of Kwara State from the northern senatorial district, citing the need for equitable political representation.
The decision was reached at an extraordinary meeting held on Thursday in Ilorin, the state capital. The position was communicated in a statement signed by the group’s State Coordinator, Elder Paul Zhiri Tsowa, and Secretary, Hon. Jacob Oni.
Formed in 2013, AA Eagle Network is a political association committed to promoting equity, social justice, and good governance in Kwara State. The group emphasized that sustainable progress requires a fair system that transcends religious and ethnic divisions.
The statement recalled that the association supported Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, but said that for 2027, focus must shift to Kwara North. “No citizen of Kwara North has served as governor since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999,” the group noted, highlighting that Kwara South and Central have dominated the governorship for 28 of the past 28 years.
AA Eagle Network said it will mobilize support across the 16 local government areas of the state to ensure Kwara North produces the next governor. “The long-suffering people of Kwara North deserve to be at the driver’s seat this time around,” the statement added.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to championing fair representation and ensuring that Kwara North gains a prominent role in the state’s leadership in 2027.
