Nollywood actress Padita Agu has opened up about her beliefs regarding juju, saying she acknowledges its existence but refuses to let it have any influence over her life or career.

The actress shared her thoughts during an interview on Nollywood On Radio when asked if she believes in juju. According to Agu, while she thinks such practices may exist to some extent, she relies more on the power of her thoughts and spoken words.

“I kind of acknowledge that it exists, but I don’t let it rule me,” she said. “I believe I have power in my thoughts and in my words. You can do your thing, but I say it won’t happen to me, and it won’t happen to me. Does it exist? I think, to an extent, it does.”

Speaking further, Agu reflected on her long journey in the entertainment industry, revealing that 2024 officially marks her 25th year as a professional actress. She traced her passion for the arts back to her secondary school days, where she first discovered her love for performance.

“As a child, I had a flair for the arts. I used to sketch, draw, dance and sing,” she recalled. “When I got into secondary school, I tried a lot of things but eventually joined the drama group, and I liked it.”

After secondary school, she continued to nurture her passion by joining another drama group. However, Agu explained that her transition from stage to screen was driven by her desire to watch and relive her performances.

“With stage performances, once you’re done, that’s it—you don’t get to see it again,” she said. “But the hunger to come out and watch what I had done came upon me, and that’s how my interest in movies began.”

Agu’s reflections highlight not only her personal beliefs but also a career built on passion, resilience and self-confidence, spanning over two decades in Nollywood.
