Amafibe, Jidda pledge stronger African diaspora partnership to drive continental growth

In a move aimed at strengthening leadership, diaspora engagement, and continental economic development, Amb Kingsley Amafibe has reaffirmed his commitment to deepening ties with African diplomatic missions in the United States following a high-level meeting with Nigerian Consulate in New York and Nigeria’s Ambassador and Consul General, His Excellency, Amb Abubakar Jidda, a senior African diplomatic representative.

The meeting, held in New York, focused on forging stronger partnerships between Africa and its global diaspora communities as well as enhancing Africa’s collective bilateral relations with the international community. Both leaders emphasised the strategic role of Africans in the diaspora in driving sustainable development, investment, and global influence across the continent.

Ambassador Abubakar Jidda assured of his readiness to contribute meaningfully toward achieving shared goals that would directly benefit African nations and Africans both at home and abroad.

According to him, collaboration and unity of purpose remain critical to unlocking economic opportunities and projecting Africa as a formidable and united force on the global stage.
“Our mission is clear, to advance Africa and Africans through purposeful engagement, strategic partnerships, and effective representation abroad,” Jidda said. “African diplomatic missions in New York remain committed to working with credible stakeholders to promote economic growth, continental integration, and true leadership.”

Expressing his delight over the engagement, Amb Kingsley Amafibe, Project Director Africa, 100 Most Notable Peace Icon Africa and Davdan Peace and Advocacy Foundation, described the meeting as timely and impactful, noting that it would strengthen diaspora cooperation and advance Africa’s international relationships.

“I am elated by this meeting because it reinforces the need for synergy between African diplomatic institutions and Africans in the diaspora,” Amafibe stated. “This partnership will enhance diaspora participation in continental development and help promote stronger bilateral relations between Africa and the rest of the world.”

Both leaders agreed that sustained collaboration would create new opportunities in trade, investment, innovation, and cultural exchange, while also fostering a unified African voice abroad.

The engagement marks another step toward leveraging Africa’s diaspora strength as a catalyst for continental economic growth, unity, and global influence. The 100 Most Notable Peace Icon Africa Diaspora is taking place on the 6th of January at 12th Park Street Brooklyn New York while the General Assembly is stated for 19th to 21st June, Marrakech, Morocco. Amb Kingsley Amafibe calls on all stockholders to be part of initiatives that promote good governance, investment opportunities and economic growth in Africa.
