South Eastern Economic Corridor received  prospects for global and Continental patronage as the precocious dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma , the Executive Governor of Imo State created new frontiers for Imo State and the South East regions to experience  business growth , Economic and Industrial transformation   through the Governor’s Imo State Economy Summit 2025 initiative , consequently demonstrating his capacity to possess the political will  to achieve political cohesion and National integration for the region ..

Imo Economic summit of 4th December 2025,  created an opportunity to dispel the fear of insecurity as a hindrance to investing in the state and the region. 

The summit showcased the various investment opportunities in the state and by extension the South East. The success of the event and its fallout proved His Excellency’s competence and managerial prowess to fill the central leadership void existing in the South East region. 

In addition, the summit initiative served as a springboard for the design and take off of South East Regional integrated Economic growth and infrastructure Development Master Plan for a sustainable regional development.

The summit set the stage for the renaissance of the economy of Imo state and South East, opening the gateway for investment opportunities to global business community by providing information on the abundant natural and human resources potentials in the state including the Agricultural sector, hydrocarbon industry, High Tech Digital Industries, Solid minerals and Tourism etc.  

In their resolve to attract investors, the Imo State government envisaged the compulsory need for the provision of critical infrastructures that attract investors and the set target for it became a reality ahead of the summit.

 The colorful attendants of the epoch-making event was a testament to Uzodimma’s brilliance ingenuity, promoting global and regional business Moguls like, Alh Aliko Dangote, Boris Johnson, former British Prime Minister, Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima and others to air their positive consent to the invitation.

Globally, and in every country, investors’ concern or focus is on security, being a primary factor for investment consideration. Governor Hope Uzodimma’s instincts prioritised Security of lives and properties in Imo State by empowering security agencies and local vigilantes over the years to flush out criminal elements and restore peaceful environment for smooth operation of businesses by maintaining law and order in the state. The improved security measures changed the external negative perception of insecurity in Imo State and the South East as a result restored investors’ confidence in the state.

In order to tackle the problems shortage of funds for the successful completion of most of these capital projects, it became imperative to establish alternative revenue sources. Faced with the financial challenges, the Governor went ahead to design ways for boosting the state’s internally generated revenue by designing and introducing the revenue collection model referred to as ” automated digital revenue collection system”. The concept paid off by boosting the accrueable revenue to Imo Internally Generated Revenue Service, IIRS, which was increased from 400 million Naira per month to over 3 billion Naira monthly.  His economic transformation initiative beefed up revenue paid into the state coffers, these additional revenues were prudently and transparently deployed to ensure the completion of these critical infrastructures’ projects in record time.

Electric power supply remains the life wire of every society, and it is required to grow its local economy. No meaningful investment, business activities nor high-tech industries can function without stable and affordable electricity supply.

The Imo State Chief Executive , Senator Uzodimma took cognizant of the indispensable quest for electricity supply and its strategic role in determining investment portfolio for the state ,  capitalized on the  Federal government electricity reform act to establish localized electricity laws which empowered the Imo State government to partner with a private Electricity Company, the Orashi Electricity Company , to generate adequate electricity , transmit same and distribute  the electricity to the 27 local government Areas  to boost economic activities, stimulate growth of small businesses providing stable electricity supply for prospective investors .

The conceived Electric power policy and programs berthed Uzodimma’s iconic leadership qualities that exemplified him as leader of thought. The energy policy is designed to trigger economic growth in the state, create a conducive environment for Europeans investors, American investors,  Asians and Africans to invest their businesses in Imo State.  The integrated Power Project, which is Gas, fired is capable of generating 30 – 80 MW of electric power for Owerri municipal and its environs.  

The Imo Concord Hotel, an important infrastructure in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry , that influences and attracts foreign investors , which have been moribund for years due to neglect , have been retrofitted and restored  beyond its previous glory, courtesy of the determination and resilience of the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and the Director General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors  , Senator Uzodimma , who also made sure that the invitees to the Imo Economic Summit was hosted and entertained in the newly revamped  Concord Hotel.

His Excellency Governor Uzodimma had a clear vision for the development and growth of Imo State economy which required a durable standard roads network for the delivery of goods and services and enhancement of the ease of doing business which contributes to the growth of the state economy.

Some of these completed legacy road infrastructures that are in use include:

1) commissioned the 52-kilometer 2) Owerri–Mbaise–Umuahia Road; 

3) Control–Assumpta Catholic Flyover 

4)  Otammiri Bridge and road (linking obinze to ihiagwa/FUTO

 5) Mgbidi oguta road and orlu-onitsha link road 

6) Owerri -Okigwe Road – 48 km

7) Owerri – Orlu dual carriage way – 36 km. 

Just to mention a few.

In the overall consideration of his witty transformation policy and agenda, job and wealth creation for Imo Youths underlined his beat. Pointing to the fact that theory, philosophy behind aims and objectives of credible gorvernance is the general well-being of the people.

Uzodimma, sees governance as a tool for social and spiritual reawakening, economic rebirth and growth, industrial transformation and economic stability with state provided infrastructures as instruments for holistic Renaissance of public and government institutions.
