The Delta State House of Assembly has once again highlighted it’s determination to ensure the promotion of Meaningful Technological, Scientific Development and address current gaps in ICT Infrastructure, Innovation Systems and Research Capacity in the state, in line with the MORE Agenda of the administration Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State.

This was disclosed in the welcome address by Hon. Blessing Achoja Chairman, House Committee on Science and Technology, Delta state House of Assembly, while presiding over the budget defense session for the Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Daniel Odinigwe Odigie and his dedicated team.

According to Hon. Blessing Achoja, the insightful presentation of the Ministry of Science and Technology at the budget defense exercise, underscored a bold vision for innovation, digital transformation and sustainable technological advancement across Delta State.

Hon. Achoja further noted that in addition to ensuring that the Ministry aligns with the MORE Agenda of the Oborevwori administration, the House committee on Science and Technology also established several benchmarks with which it will rigorously examine the Ministry’s proposals, including; the promotion of meaningful technological and scientific development in Delta State; addressing the current gaps in ICT infrastructure, innovation systems, and research capacity; Demonstrating prudent use of previous allocations; as well as Providing measurable outcomes that justify new funding, all of which are critical in promoting the key pillars for Delta’s shared prosperity.

The House committee chairman on Science and Technology, who has actively participated in several other budget defense sessions and contributed to the rigorous scrutiny and collaborative dialogue that ensures fiscal responsibility and impactful governance, affirmed the Assembly’s collective resolve to harness the advantages of science and technology to the benefit of the state.
