In a strategic move aimed at deepening consumer satisfaction and reinforcing its market dominance, Coca-Cola Nigeria has unveiled a new 60cl PET bottle across its product portfolio, offering Nigerian consumers more quantity at the same price.
The announcement was made this week by Yusuf Murtala, Senior Director of Frontline Marketing at Coca-Cola Nigeria, who emphasized the company’s renewed focus on value-driven innovation and consumer-centric offerings. “Today’s consumers are looking for more value and meaningful experiences in every purchase,” Murtala said. “The 60cl Coke bottle is our way of giving Nigerians that little Xtraaa, more refreshment, more moments to share, and more joy for the same price.”
This product upgrade, which increases the standard bottle size from 50cl to 60cl, is being rolled out not just for Coca-Cola, but also across other products in the company’s soft drink portfolio, including Fanta and Sprite. The 20% volume increase comes at no added cost to the consumer, a move analysts say could shift competitive dynamics in the increasingly crowded Nigerian beverage market.
While maintaining the signature taste that has defined Coca-Cola for decades, the larger bottle is positioned as a practical response to consumer demand for greater value in a challenging economic climate. “Coca-Cola understands that Nigerians deserve more,” said Murtala, noting that the move is designed to elevate everyday moments and foster social connections through shared refreshment experiences.
The launch of the 60cl bottle is already receiving positive reception from retailers and consumers nationwide, particularly in informal markets and urban centers where price sensitivity and brand loyalty remain high.
Industry experts see the move as a bold yet calculated step to consolidate Coca-Cola’s market share, especially among young consumers and families seeking affordable indulgence. The company has also hinted at accompanying marketing campaigns to reinforce the new bottle’s positioning as “that little Xtraaa”, a promise of more refreshment without more spending.
As inflation and consumer purchasing power continue to challenge spending habits across Nigeria, Coca-Cola’s decision to offer more for less could help the global beverage giant deepen loyalty and reaffirm its role in the daily lives of millions.
The new 60cl Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite bottles are now available nationwide.
