MC Senibo: Commanding the Spotlight with Style

Starting off as a standup comedian, OAP and now major event host with a touch of excellence and comic relief, the delightful Ebitimi Ogoniba, popularly known as MC Senibo has become a household name in organizing and hosting major events across Nigeria and beyond.

The top rated Okpoama Beach Carnival in the beautiful Brass Island and the Opu-Nembe All Stars Concert all in Bayelsa are some of the events that have his fingerprint fully engraved. Both events have over the years grown to become some of the biggest entertainment concerts in Nigeria, drawing international attention because of the pedigree of the artistes on parade.

As the host and management consultant of these high-profile events, MC Senibo has successfully brought international music icons such as Davido, Rema, Fireboy, Teni, Mr. P of Psquare, Rude Boy, Timaya, Flavour, Tuface Idibia, HarrySong, Timi Dakolo, Patoranking, and Duncan Mighty, etc., to perform at these events. This effort has elevated Bayelsa’s profile as a hub for world-class entertainment and the new destination for fun seekers willing to enjoy music, dance, and all-around arts at its best.

When asked about the inspiration behind the events, Senibo shared, “Entertainment is one of the easiest ways to bring people together. It unifies people and provides a platform to unwind”.

He expressed deep gratitude to the former Governor of Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, Security Expert Chief Dr. Kojo Sam and the good and well meaning people of Okpoama, Opu-Nembe, the conveners of the International Okpoama Beach Carnival and Opu-Nembe all Stars Concert.

Blessed with an incredible talent and a marching energy on and off the stage, MC Senibo at every event, leaves his audience with an unending appetite for more of his sensational performances. As a master of ceremonies, show promoter, and events manager, he is often celebrated for his creative brilliance, magnetic stage presence, and dynamic versatility.

No doubt, he has carved a niche for himself as a prominent figure in the entertainment and events industry. Little wonder he is the regular host of some major events by prominent organisations like the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Shell Nigeria, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Jake Riley Limited.

The Okpoama Beach Carnival is Changing Perceptions

MC Senibo noted that the carnival has heightened awareness of Okpoama’s beauty and tourism potential. “People often think they need to travel to places like Miami for a great beach experience, but the Okpoama Beach Carnival is changing that narrative. It has encouraged discussions about investments in Okpoama and Opu-Nembe, especially with the peace and security people experienced during the events.”

He added, “The peace and security we showcased tell the world we are ready to take over the tourism and business sectors.”

A Global Perspective and a Call to Action

Having performed on prestigious stages in Turkey, Senegal, Ghana, South Africa, and Sierra Leone, Senibo has cemented his reputation as a global entertainer. Yet, he remains committed to Bayelsa.

“Bayelsa is rich in culture, heritage, and untapped resources. I invite the world to come to Bayelsa. Believe in us, support us, and invest in us—you won’t regret it,” he concluded.

The Formula for Success

On ensuring the success of these events, Senibo emphasized planning and teamwork. “It’s not just about bringing people together to be entertained. A lot of planning goes into it, and we assign capable hands to oversee each aspect of the event,” he explained.

Memorable Moments and Early Challenges

One of his most cherished moments as a host is introducing international stars on stage. “It’s exciting and elevates the spirit. Seeing the joy and smiles on people’s faces when these stars perform is priceless,” he shared.

Reflecting on challenges, MC Senibo recounted the difficulty of convincing stars to attend in the early years. “I remember when we invited Rema to perform. It was tough convincing him to come to Bayelsa, but after his experience, he was the one encouraging others to come, calling the show a bomb.”

Overcoming Logistics Challenges

He acknowledged the logistical hurdles of bringing international stars to Brass Island. “They must travel to Nembe and then take a boat to Brass. I sincerely thank the Federal Government for approving funds for the construction of the Nembe-Brass Road. I also commend the State Government for taking the bold initiative to embark on this monumental project. It will ease movement and attract greater development to the area.”

The Future of Entertainment in Bayelsa

MC Senibo envisions Bayelsa becoming Nigeria’s entertainment hub. “There was a time when Nollywood stars and big names frequently visited the state. We’re working to revive that experience. The journey has started, and we will get there.”

He urged the government to invest in infrastructure like a film village to attract movie and music productions, which would boost revenue and development.

Promoting Local Talent

“We’ve used more local talents for the Okpoama and Nembe events such as Diteh, City boy, Dabreez, Starblinks, Dj Saheed, Daumi Richie, BoyFairytale, Nayomi, Ebixy, Mikky Meek, Kizzy Kient among others.

Many of them were groomed to perform on the international stage,” he said. Through his radio programme on Rhythm 94.7 FM Yenagoa, MC Senibo also promotes local artistes and their music.

Advice for Aspiring Entertainers

“Keep moving, keep pushing—no good thing comes easy. Maintain good relationships and develop a sound character. Talent is not enough; character will sustain you when you’re on top of your game,” he advised.

MC Senibo’s dedication to promoting Bayelsa’s entertainment potential and his drive to leave a legacy of value continue to inspire a new generation of talents and set a high standard for events in the Niger Delta region and across the world.
