The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN Lekki and District Society, LEDS is shopping for members in Multinational oil giant, Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL to join.
The District made their intentions known when a 13-man delegation lead by the Chairman, ICAN LEDS, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, paid a courtesy visit to the Finance Department of the organisation in Lekki phase II.
In her remark, Olaniyi explained that the visit was deliberately planned to solicit for qualified members of the institute to join the district in line with one of the 2024/ 2025 objectives, to boost membership drive.
She shared her mission statement for the 2024/25 Chairmanship year which included: strengthening of the Catch Them Young, CTY initiative of the institute at the district level, build the district permanent office space; procure 18-seater utility bus, digitalization of the district membership process and giving back to the host society through CSR initiatives.
She stated that the district will appreciate support from the company in areas of facilitating the CTY program, joining and attending the district monthly meetings.
She commended the the collaborations which is expected to further deepen the partnership by sharing emerging issues in the industry and assist in delivering value.
She called for networking among qualified members in chevron and also assist to facilitate government support toward the industry in which CNL operates in.
In his remark General Manager Finance, Chevron, Olmedo Marcus, expressed their interest in the opportunity to partner with the District, stating that one of their core competence is in-house development of staff members, safety, and ensuring the integrity of finance team.
He said the company intends to continue to uphold the legacy and ensure that accountants should be influential leaders and be compliant in whatever they do.
