Warning against falling away (1) – Lazarus Muoka

Lord’s Chosen

Muoka

By Lazarus Muoka

Matt 24: 5-12 says, “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold”

Beloved, we should not be ignorant of the fact that all the prophecies concerning the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ have been fulfilled. Thus what remain now are His appearance and our readiness to receive Him. In our very eyes we have seen many impostors and impersonators claiming to be prophets, teachers or Lord but later confirmed to be fake. Fervent evangelists have become cold. Zealous and committed Christians have abandoned their first love all as an indication that we are in perilous time. Truly what we are witnessing in the present generation indicates that the rate of growth of genuine born again Christians and backsliders are inversely proportional. There is trust deficit among brethren that have resulted into decay of love. All these have contributed to the tension in the world and therefore making lots of brethren to fall away.

2Tim. 3: 1-5 says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”

We have been made to understand that there shall be pestilences that shall result to sorrow. Also that there shall be persecutions and hatred of Christians that will make many regret being believers. That time is going to be perilous in nature, when supposed Christians will go about denying the power of God which they had previously tested its efficacy. And almost all the prophecies pertaining to this time in context have been fulfilled of which we can testify about. Given the fulfillment of the prophecies of His coming, you can now understand that there is nothing to be expected again than the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. As a result the situation calls for vigilant, watchfulness and diligent preparation in order to avoid falling away before His coming.

Of course the present generation is devoid of people with discipline, disgusting and ingratitude fellows. Many of them professing Christianity are now appearing as inordinate self-lovers, insatiably covetous, boasters, proud, despisers of others, and blasphemers of God which cumulatively are evidences of falling away.

2 Thess. 2: 1-3 says, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 ¶ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”

Brethren, we should not be counted as those that have fallen away, we must do everything possible to ensure we escape from the danger of fallen away, and that is the essence of this message. The prophecies we spoke about were meant for our warning so as to avoid mistakes that might plunges us into falling away. That was the more reason the angel of God told Lot and family to escape or their life from Sodom and not to look back.

Gen. 19: 12- 17 states, “And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. 15 ¶ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. 17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed”

This was the message given to Lot and his households to escape to the mountain. However, due to the love for the things of this world, Lot’s wife looked back and perished forever. The same warning is given to us through this message to guide us from falling away. I don’t know what is luring you out of the love of God, but whatever that could be, I implore you to resist it. You must not allow the love of this world to ruin your blessing which came from God and enduring.

Many believers are on the fast lane and are looking up to the wrong role model as example. We should not be looking at backsliders and sinners as role models. If you have made mistake and have heard me through this message, I appeal to you to come back to the faith. This warning becomes very necessary because many are easily offended. After all the incredible signs and wonders that the Lord has shown to us in this ministry to prove His willingness to bless us in this life and be in heaven at last, it is disheartening that many still get easily offended and become angry with the Lord and backslid over flimsy issues.

They will forget all the revival messages they are hearing and all that the Lord has done for them including the salvation of their souls and the divine protection they are enjoying. One of the reasons for falling away is familiarity with the word of God. Some believers have developed too much familiarity with the word of God to the extent that it does not have any impact in their lives again. But it is through the word of God that we are sanctified. In order not to fall away we must avoid familiarity with His word.

Another set of people that are on the way to fall away are those involved in murmuring. They murmur against ushers, security, the media and every other thing in the church. Everything about the ministry is criticized for one reason or another by them. Such people should beware of falling away. Another set of people are those that not only complain but are in the church for their end meets and as a result of their disposition devil is always eager to follow them up. If you are a believer, you must be ready to pass through lots of temptation and persecution otherwise you will fall away, God forbid.
