IBADAN-IKOLABA GRA, where the house of the Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) goveror-elect, Mr. Seyi Makinde was located, was a beehive of activity, as political associates, friends and relatives stormed the place to celebrate his victory at the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

While addressing the gathering in his “Thank You Message,” on Monday, the governor-elect stated that his victory at the poll reminded him of the Agbekoya struggle of 1968, adding that the electorate stood against what they perceived as mismanagement of their common patrimony brought about by the coalition with forces outside their shores to fleece their treasury.

Makinde, however, described as unfortunate the needless bloodletting, maiming and killing of members of the opposition parties, while calling for all hands to be on deck to move the state forward.

“There is no need to crying over spilled milk and it is for us to move forward together and for me to fulfil my Campaign promises to you in the clear understanding that will take realistic decisions together because you did not elect me to compensate for anything, you elected me fulfil your desire for a better life,” he stressed.

He noted that the making of the history was decided by wise men who volunteered to operate from behind the scene.

“High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Osi Olubadan and Gomer governor of the state together with Senator Femi Lanlehin of the ADC, Barrister Sharafadeen Ali of the ZLP, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde of SDP, Senator Monsurat Summonu and other who decided to relegate their own ambitions and support me for the greater good of the masses. Posterity will forever paint there names in gold,” he added.

Meanwhile, the defeated ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Bayo Adelabu has congratulated Makinde over his victory at the poll.

According to him in a press statement, no life is worth being lost for any reason, while he expressed sympathy for the families of the bereaved during the elections.

“While my party is studying the incidents of violence and various reported cases of electoral malpractices to determine further course of action if necessary I congratulate Seyi Makinde of PDP.”

“I am full of gratitude to God and to every single one of you for the journey so far. I offered myself up for service for the good of Oyo State. We ran a campaign that was issues based and was above board all through and I am quite proud of that,” Adelabu added.
