Although Xploit Comedy is a popular group, not many people, however, have an idea the group has its beginning in the church.

Comprised of four young men, Chizzy, Lankz, Lenzi and Brizy, Xploit Comedy group which has been setting social media ablaze with their creative skits, is an offshoot of a church’s drama department.

Brizy, (real name Lazarus Emmanuel Chibugo) one of the quartet, gave an  insight: “Lankz and I grew up together and we started acting together in the drama department of our church. Eventually, when we gained admission into Imo State University, we met Lenzi and Chizzy and we all continued with our drama in the church.”

On how Xploit Comedy transited from church to social media, he said: :”The idea was sold to us by our fans.”

Expatiating further, he avowed: “At a point, our performance became so hilarious some of our fans approached us and advised us to start a drama group and post our skits on Facebook and Instagram.”

When they set out to form a new, secular group, the foursome did not altogether discard their religious toga, a fact that is reflected in the inspiration behind their name.

“We picked our name from the Bible,” Brizy averred.  “We picked the name from the Bible verse of Daniel 11:32, which says “but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits.” So, our name, Xploit, came from that verse, but we spelt it differently to make it funky.”

Today, they are a big hit on social media. “We started with Facebook and that is the platform that has our highest number of fans. We focused on building our brands through Facebook and YouTube until recently when we began to invest our time and energy on our Instagram page which so far has yielded amazing result,” he said.

With over one million subscribers on YouTube, half a million followers in Facebook and over thousands of fans on Instagram, Xploit Comedy is one of the biggest comedians in Nigeria.

The phenomenal success did not come as a surprise, Brizy claimed. “We all had the dream of becoming popular. We knew that one day, the world would definitely notice us because we worked very hard, driven by the desire for success and the determination to succeed,” he stated.
