KATSINA—Unidentified gunmen reportedly killed a man identified as Bashiru Adamu in Angwan Ilu, Dandume area of Katsina State and went away with his 10 cows.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Usman Abdullahi, who disclosed this yesterday, said the incident was coming at a time when the state government was working round the clock to checkmate activities of cattle rustlers in the state.
Abdullahi called on the cattle herders to report strangers, who carry out nefarious activities in their communities in order to apprehend the culprits.
8 arrested in Abia
Meanwhile, eight suspects, reportedly involved in the killing of a herdsman in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State on Sunday have been arrested by the state Police Command.
The spokesman of the command, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, who disclosed this in Umuahia yesterday, said that the deceased was killed during a clash between some herdsmen and people of Umuobasi-Ukwu Autonomous Community.
He said that a Peace Committee, comprising representatives of the community, herdsmen, Hausa/Fulani community, the state government and security agencies, had been constituted to broker truce between the two parties.
