Court orders INEC to include PDP logo in Feb. 20 rerun poll in Langtang South

The Federal High Court in Jos on Tuesday ordered INEC to include the name and logo of PDP in the Feb. 20 rerun election in Langtang South State constituency. The judge, Justice Dorcas Agishi, made the order on an ex parte motion filed by the Peoples Democratic Party. The PDP motion wants the court to restrain INEC from excluding it or its candidate from participating in the rerun by refusing to include the party’s name and logo on the ballot papers for the poll.

Oshiomhole signs 2016 Budget into Law

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has signed the state’s N116.6 billion 2016 Appropriation Bill into law, saying the 2015 budget performed optimally in all sectors. Thieves steal bags of human hair from Indian temple

Indian police said on Tuesday in New Delhi that 10 kilograms of human hair had been stolen from a famous Hindu temple in southern India. Police Officer, G-Ram Naik, said a group of thieves took 10 bags containing “special grade” hair worth 10,965 dollars (750,000 rupees) from the Simhachalam temple. Human hair is used to make wigs and hair extensions.

An Ile-Ife Customary Court in Osun on Tuesday dissolved a 21 year-old marriage over husband’s threat to kill his wife and battery. The Magistrate, Moses Owoyomi, held that after much appeal, which was refused by the couple, the marriage was dissolved with immediate effect. Owoyomi ordered that there shall be no refund of dowry and awarded custody of two children to the petitioner and one to the respondent.
