AGN Lagos: Victor Osuagwu hands over to Don Pedro-Aganbi

The lingering division in the Lagos State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria,AGN, came to an end last Sunday, as comic actor, Victor Osuagwu officially handed over to his biggest rival, Don Pedro Aganbi as the new Chairman of the chapter.

The chapter recently held its general election, which produced Aganbi as its next chairman. Osuagwu and Aganbi have been at loggerheads over the leadership of the chapter for years.

But last Sunday, the actors embraced each other and shook hands as a sign of peace.

While handing over to Agbanbi, Osuagwu advised the new leadership to ensure that there is unity in the guild.

Recounting his achievements while in office, the comic actor said, his administration hired a new secretariat for the chapter, in addition to carrying out medical check ups for their members.

At the event, veteran actor, C.A.C Nzeh was given an award for his commitment towards returning to the chapter.

In his speech, the excited new chairman, Mr Don Pedro said, that he will always seek the advice of the former chairman. “Mr Victor will go nowhere as I will continue to seek for his advise,” he said

Aganbi said that the immediate task before the newly elected team is to try to partner and influence government policies in favour of the Lagos State chapter of the body. He also hinted that a formidable task force would be set-up to handle the issue of quack producers in Lagos state who are taking advantage of up and coming actors.

Other elected officers were top Yoruba cross-over actress and singer, Dayo Amusa(Vice Chairman),Jude Orhorha(General Secretary), Oluwaseyi Copperfied, (Financial Secretary); Ogehekaro Ogodo(PRO); Miss Rose Amra(Treasurer), Miss Blessing Anthony–Ani(Assistant Secretary); Henry Osewenge, Chief Whip; and Julius Omije, Director Guild Services.
