Lagos—Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, yesterday, announced the appointment and approval of Mr. Hakeem Olaogun Dickson as the new Director-General of Lagos State Safety Commission.

Dickson succeeded the former DG, Mr. Fouad Oki, who was appointed and subsequently, inaugurated by Ambode on Monday, November 2, 2015, at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The reason for Oki’s removal by the governor was uncertain at press time, but sources said it could not be unconnected with alleged maladministration.

Dickson’s appointment, is however, subject to the approval of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In a statement by the State Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, the Governor said Dickson’s appointment was in line with his administration’s commitment to turn around the agency for optimal performance.

Ambode, however, urged Dickson to bring his political clout and experience in safety practices especially at work and construction projects to bear on the mandate of the Commission saddled with the responsibility of safety regulations and enforcement in the state.
