Ebonyi Assembly threatens to arrest gov candidate, others over alleged projects scam

ABAKALIKI—EBONYI state House of Assembly, EBHA, yesterday threatened to issue warrant of arrest to some companies, contractors including former governorship aspirant of the Labour Party in the 2015 general election, Sir Edward Nkwegu over an alleged housing projects scam.

The House handed down the threat through the Chief Whip, Hon. Chike Ogiji who is the Chairman of the Adhoc committee investigating ongoing house projects in the state.

According to him, if the companies and contractors including Nkwegu who is the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Edon Nigeria Ltd, failed to appear before the committee on Thursday, they will be arrested.

Ogiji further stressed that the contractors that would be arrested include: JMK Construction Company Ltd; Costain W.A, Aguiyi Nig. Ltd; Phinotech Nig. Ltd; Angele Standard Ltd; Zim Engineering Ltd; Eze Chibueze Agbo and son; Namik construction Commerce Ltd and Fred Technical Ltd.

Others include: CAT Construction Group; Danesworth International Ltd; WATA Construction Ltd and Tonimann Integrated Ltd.
