Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has formally congratulated Mr. Godwin Obaseki on his emergence as the candidate of the APC saying that he looked forward to an issue based campaign with him.

Ize-Iyamu in a statement yesterday also charged the outgoing governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to allow Obaseki speak up for himself noting that the comrade governor was acting as if he was seeking a third term.

Ize-Iyamu while affirming that he was ready for a total scrutiny of his past roles in government, teased his APC rival about the recently submitted petition lodged against him in the House of Representatives where Mr. Obaseki was charged with misappropriation of funds from the estate of a business partner of Obaseki. He  said this indicates  that the anti-graft agency should have an interest in the APC candidate.

Ize-Iyamu said: ‘’A week after Godwin Obaseki emerged as the candidate of the APC, it is interesting to note however that the outgoing governor, Adams Oshiomhole, still speaks as though he is the candidate running for elections. Is Godwin Obaseki not a grown man? Why can’t he begin to speak for himself or is this a sign of things to come?

‘’We also note with interest, Oshiomole’s allusion to the EFCC as a tool to harass the PDP flag-bearer, OsagieIze-Iyamu. Is Adams Oshiomole a staff of the EFCC or is the EFCC an extension of his office? The EFCC will do well to assert their independence as an anti-corruption agency by disowning Oshiomole’s statements.

‘’We believe with the recent revelation by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, that the EFCC has more work to do in the investigation of Oshiomhole’s puppet, Godwin Obaseki”.
