Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has said that a lot of council  administrators, politicians and businessmen in the state have  allegedly connived to control and retain  names of ghost workers in  the 17 Local Government Councils’ salary system.

Gaidam disclosed yesterday  while  swearing in four  members of the  Judicial Service Commission (JSC) at the Wawa hall of Government  House, Damaturu.

He warned that those who are involved in the “acts of connivance;” to desist from such acts by deleting immediately all the names of ghost workers on government pay rolls.

His words: “My  administration has  surprisingly uncovered the culprits. Let me use this  occasion to caution the perpetrators of hoarding ghost workers in the 17 council pay rolls,” warning that all the names of suspects will be made public to face the wrath of law.

In  an interview with journalists shortly after swearing in ceremony, Gaidam traced the history of ghost workers in the state since 1991, when  the  state  was created on August 27, 1991 by late Gen. Sani Abacha.

His words: “My  intervention in recent  times led to the ability of this administration to always pay salaries of workers across the state without  any  delay  or  hitch.”
