BENIN—AN Egor Magistrate’s Court sitting in Benin has remanded two persons, Peter Eleng, 29, Osas Osawaru, 36, for allegedly raping one of their victims during a robbery operation.
The Prosecutor, C.S.O Nnamdi, told the Court that the accused committed the offence on April 2, 2016 at No.1, at Oghobaghase Street in Benin.
He also told the court that the accused after gaining entrance through the ceiling of the store stole N12,000, one Techno phone valued at N10,000, two Samsung phone worth N22,000 and a packet of cigarette valued at N200.
The plea of the accused was, however, not taken on a three count charge bordering on stealing and rape.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 516, 390 and 358 of the criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. ll laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo State.
The Magistrate, Mr. W. Aziegbemhin, ruled that the court would consider the bail of the both accused on the next adjourned date and adjourned the case till April 19.
