Police in Edo State  have confirmed the abduction of Magistrate Hassana Garuba, wife of former Speaker of the state House of Assembly.

Garuba, a serving magistrate in the state, was kidnapped at Obadan village near Ogbemudia Farms, on the Benin-Okenne-Lokoja Road, Tuesday morning.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Osifo, confirmed the abduction, adding that police were working hard to locate her and set her free.

“Osifo said: “The matter has been reported. Our men are combing the area where the incident happenedý with a view to securing her release and arrest those responsible. We have deployed the necessary machinery, including electronic devices to secure her release.”

Garuba was said to be travelling to Ehor, where she is a Magistrate, when she was kidnapped along with other persons yet to be identified.

A family source said the kidnappers had not contacted them.
