OWERRI—There are fears that about five persons may have died Monday night, in an inter-communal clash between Mgbolo Okuku and Obogwu communities in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.

Apart from the alleged loss of lives, Vanguard also gathered that several houses have either been burnt, vandalised or completely looted.

A villager said: “An Obogwu boy was allegedly killed by unidentified cultists. The youths from Obogwu village, rightly or wrongly, alleged that the deceased was killed by boys from Mgbolo Okuku.

“Angry youths from Obogwu village moved the lifeless body of the boy to Mgbolo Okuku community and started burning, destroying houses and looting properties.”
Reports reaching Vanguard at press time had it that the security personnel had stabilised the situation.
